These DIY Napkin Rings Are Sure to Impress Your Guests
Whether you’re hosting a holiday dinner or going to someone else’s, these DIY napkin rings are sure to impress your guests. They’re easy to make, customizable and inexpensive. Plus, they can be made in advance and used for other occasions besides Thanksgiving!
1) Pie Tin Napkin Rings
- Gather your materials. You will need:
- A pie tin, floral wire (or a piece of string), and scissors or a craft knife.
- Cut the floral wire to fit the width of your pie tin (you want it to be snug enough that you don’t need to hammer it in place).
- Wrap the floral wire around one end of your pie tin and secure with duct tape. Then cut off any excess.
- Wrap an elastic around the other side of your napkin ring so that when you slide it over a tablecloth, it will stay in place without falling off!

2) Fall Leaf Napkin Rings
What you’ll need:
- Fall leaves (the bigger the better)
- Scissors or a craft knife
- Hot glue gun and glue sticks (I used an 18v rechargeable hot glue gun and some extra-long sticks)
- Napkin rings (or other circular objects, like bottle caps, cans, etc.)
Instructions:
- Cut your leaf in half lengthwise if it’s too big to fit on your napkin ring. You should end up with two semi-circular pieces of leaf. If your leaf isn’t thick enough to cover both sides of the napkin ring, lay one piece over top of another so that they overlap slightly; this will give you a seamless look once glued down.
- Now that we have our layers ready for gluing together, we can start making our project!
- Apply a generous layer of hot glue on one side at time—try not to get any on yourself! You’ll want enough so that when pressure is applied from top to bottom there won’t be any gaps between layers when they touch again together
- Let dry before handling too much because they’re still very delicate while wet
3) Wood Slice Napkin Rings
- What you need: Wood slices
- How to make them: Cut a slice of wood in half and sand the edges. (If you’re using a hardwood, like oak or maple, the edges will be more rounded than if you’re using soft woods like pine.) Drill holes in each piece—the number of holes depends on how many napkins you want to hold—and glue them together with strong glue such as wood glue or epoxy. Let dry overnight.
- How they’ll look on Thanksgiving: Perfectly rustic! They’ll also add some texture and color to your Thanksgiving table setting.
For a personal touch, use the best materials you can find. You will want them to be durable and strong enough to last through the Thanksgiving meal. If you are using a variety of materials, make sure that they complement each other, but don’t match exactly.
Whether you’re hosting Thanksgiving dinner for the first time, or you just want to add a personal touch to your dinner table, these DIY napkin rings are sure to impress your guests. They’re easy enough for beginners and look great when paired with other fall decor!
